Secure The Site

A site chosen with care becomes a forest of hope, rooted in community, for generations.

Species Survey

Designing a species list of the most suitable, indigenous species for the future pocket forest. This survey is ideally carried out in a nearby ancient forest.

Forest Planning

Sourcing saplings from a nursery, defining quantities based on site size and target planting density, and confirming availability of each species on the list.

Soil Preparation

Preparing the soil for planting such as decompacting and adding suitable amendments to create the basis of a fluffy, fungal dominant soil.

Planting & Mulching

Planting of young, cell grown, saplings at a density of 3 to 4 per Sqm. Addition of an inoculant or compost tea. Mulching to cover and protect the soil, helping reduce evaporation, suppress weeds, and build carbon stocks. Straw or wood chips are ideal.

Maintenance

Weeding can be done quarterly until the soil is covered from the light. The pocket forest might need water during severe droughts.

Climax Forest

Equivalent to a 100-year-old Forest (After 20 years of plantation)
